India Energy Week 2022: The Blueprint Year
Let’s clear one thing right away: India Energy Week didn’t officially happen in 2022. But this year wasn’t empty — far from it.
2022 is the year when the entire event started taking shape. Think of it as the blueprint phase: the format, the partnerships, the pavilions — all the things that made IEW a global platform later started forming here.

What Actually Happened in 2022

1. The Format Was Locked In

Organisers, ministries, and industry bodies sat down and put structure to the idea:

  • a multi-thematic energy exhibition,
  • separate country pavilions,
  • dedicated industry zones (like hydrogen, petrochem, mobility, LNG),
  • and a conference track that pulled together CEOs, policymakers, and tech leaders.

This is the year when IEW stopped being an idea and started becoming an actual event plan.

2. Countries Started Signing Up

Foreign trade offices and global energy bodies began exploring pavilion participation for the upcoming edition.
That’s how the first set of country pavilions came to life.

3. Industry Pavilions Were Designed

Hydrogen. Biofuels. Clean mobility. Make in India. LNG ecosystem.
These didn’t appear randomly in 2023 — the groundwork was laid in 2022.

Organisers mapped out which sectors needed dedicated space and which technologies required visibility. The final 2023 hall layout was basically built from these 2022 discussions.

4. Stakeholders Aligned

PSUs, private energy giants, and global OEMs began coordinating their exhibition presence.
This is also when the government’s energy leadership started positioning IEW as a flagship event — something that would eventually become obvious in 2023 and explode in 2024–25.

Why 2022 Deserves Its Own Article

Without 2022, IEW wouldn’t have had the scale or clarity it debuted with.
This was the silent year — nothing was “on stage,” but everything was being built backstage.
